Chiropractic Adjustment

In basic terms, the spinal adjustment or spinal manipulation refers to the process in which the doctor of chiropractic skillfully applies controlled force into one or more "subluxated" vertebrae of the spine. The adjustment is also frequently used in the pelvic region to normalize the sacroiliac joints. The adjustment is usually delivered using the hands or through the use of a specialized mechanical tool.

Activator Technique

The activator instrument is used to give a consistent low-force, high-speed chiropractic adjustment to the spine and extremities. This technique is utilized in conjunction with traditional chiropractic adjustments for a more well rounded approach to your spinal health.

SOT Blocking

SOT Blocking is another low-force technique that allows the Doctor to re-align the pelvis and lumbar spine.

Muscle/Soft tissue Release Therapy

Technique that can be applied to various regions of the body to restore normal range of motion and function.

Extremity Adjustments

Many times other joints become misaligned or subluxated and lead to a variety of symptoms. All three Doctors are well trained and experienced in adjusting shoulders, elbows, wrist, hips, knees and ankles.

Spinal Stabilization Exercises

Spinal Stabilization exercises and stretches are an important part of many treatment plans as they increase muscle strength and coordination, and enhance flexibility and mobility. Many of the exercises and stretches can be continued even once active care is finished. This reduces the likelihood of sustaining new injuries and minimizes the recurrence of previous injuries. Our goal at Klahanie Chiropractic is to provide our patients with the tools to correctly and safely complete the exercises and stretches they have been instructed to perform at home.

Cranial Subluxations

A Cranial Subluxation is a condition where movement of cranial plates at the sutures is reduced or absent. Like vertebral (spinal) subluxations, cranial subluxations cause health problems due to nerve pressure.

Cranial Chiropractic - is that branch of chiropractic that specializes in the detection and reduction and elimination of cranial subluxations.

The cranium houses and protects the very delicate tissue of the brain - Until the mid 1970's our understanding of the human cranium was derived from post mortem autopsy studies. These studies concluded that there is no movement between the plate-like bones that make up the cranium. It was believed that these plates fuse in early adulthood. With the development in the 1970's of an x-ray technique called cinema-roentgenography, we were able for the first time to view the movement of cranial bones in living subjects!

Cranial Sutures - which are represented by the lines that you see on the skull, are actually joints, as are your knees or elbows. In healthy individuals, the bones of the cranium make subtle, almost imperceptible movements.

The proper movement of cranial bones is critical to proper brain function. This proper movement allows the normal brain to expand and contract as necessary thereby preventing an increase in intracranial pressure (nerve pressure), which can cause a disruption of proper brain function due to increased nerve pressure to the delicate brain tissue.

Blye Cranial Technique - is a highly effective method developed by Dr. John S. Blye which is based on the principles of chiropractic and a new model of disease called the Chronic Regional Encephalitis / Cranial Subluxation Resistance Model - or the E/R Model. It allows doctors to find and correct cranial subluxations safely and effectively.
